Abstract: The aim of the present study is to descript the concept of lifelong learning in the case of a special group, that of student mothers. We examined female students bringing up small children, we did research on their motivation, their difficulty and success in learning path in a longitudinal research project. A central question of the research was whether the investment in higher education during the maternity leave helps women in their return to work. We have also examined the strategies women follow when they choose a course in higher education.
